Hana Algül is Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Munich (TUM) at the TUM Klinikum Rechts der Isar and head of the Institute for Tumor Metabolism at the Technical University of Munich. His research focuses on pancreatic cancer, with particular emphasis on tumor metabolism, inflammation-associated carcinogenesis, and tumor–immune system interactions. Algül investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms that drive cancer development and progression, especially how metabolic and inflammatory pathways influence tumor growth and resistance to therapy. Using advanced in vivo models and translational approaches, his group aims to identify novel therapeutic targets and strategies to improve patient outcomes. Bridging basic science and clinical oncology, Algül has extensive experience in clinical cancer research and has participated in more than 40 phase I–III clinical trials. He leads interdisciplinary efforts at the intersection of tumor biology, immunology, and metabolism, striving to translate laboratory discoveries into clinical benefit. His leadership at the Comprehensive Cancer Center Munich contributes significantly to advancing precision medicine and innovative cancer therapies in Germany and beyond.
