Prof. Dr. Marcus R. Makowski is a leading expert in diagnostic and interventional radiology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), serving as the Director of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at TUM Klinikum Rechts der Isar since 2020.

Prof. Makowski's research primarily centers on the development and application of quantitative imaging techniques, particularly in molecular imaging. His work explores the extracellular matrix (ECM) and immune imaging to enhance the understanding of tissue microenvironments. Additionally, he is investigating the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into radiological imaging to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
Clinically, Prof. Makowski focuses on the evaluation and establishment of new quantitative biomarkers in radiology. His work aims to translate advanced imaging techniques into practical applications for patient care, particularly in oncology and cardiovascular diseases.

Prof. Makowski's interdisciplinary approach combines advanced imaging techniques with clinical applications, aiming to enhance diagnostic capabilities and patient outcomes in radiology. His work is instrumental in bridging the gap between research and clinical practice, particularly in the fields of oncology and cardiovascular medicine.
