Workshops in bioinformatics
The DKTK School of Oncology and the Heidelberg Center for Human Bioinformatics (HD-HuB) from the German Network for Bioinformatics Infrastructure (de.NBI) are offering bioinformatics workshops for researchers working with larger datasets of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data arising from patient tumor samples. The courses teach background knowledge on technologies used for data generation and for data analysis. Commonly used tools for data interpretation are presented and can be used in hands-on parts on provided data sets. For more detailed information and application click here.

20th International Summer School on Immunology “IMMUNE SYSTEM: GENES; RECEPTORS AND REGULATION”. This FEBS Advanced Lecture Course will take place from 21 to 28 September 2019 in Hvar, Croatia.
The Summer School is designed to give participants a deeper insight into the basic knowledge and novel developments in immunology. Further information can be found on the course website.

“Gender issues in science”
Prof. Dr. Nina Papavasiliou (Immune Diversity, D150) will speak about the recent efforts by funding bodies in the USA to address gender issues in academic research.
This will be followed by group discussions about how the situation in the USA compares to Germany, and what can be done to address the issues raised.
As always, drinks, pizza and PhD programme points will all be on offer!
