Objectives of the DKTK School of Oncology

The DKTK School of Oncology pursues the overarching goal of systematically and sustainably supporting and connecting early-career researchers in the field of translational oncology.

  • It initiates and coordinates a nationwide, interactive network of early-career scientists and physicians within the DKTK, fostering active exchange of knowledge and experience as well as long-term collaborations.
  • It strengthens interdisciplinary dialogue between scientists, data-driven researchers, and clinically active physicians with the aim of accelerating translational processes in patient-oriented cancer research.
  • It establishes structured qualification formats for Medical Scientists and Clinician Scientists to foster the targeted development of translational competencies.
  • It provides mentoring by experienced DKTK scientists to support the development of individual scientific profiles and career planning.
  • It promotes international cooperation and mobility through targeted research stays and the presentation of fellows’ own work at leading international scientific conferences.
  • It conveys entrepreneurial competencies, thereby strengthening the innovation orientation of translational research.
