To compete internationally, scientists need systematic and structural support as well as continued education. This and the integration into an attractive and challenging science community are the central concerns of the DKTK School of Oncology. With our training of scientists and physician scientists we promote the establishing of future leaders in translational research, and close the gap between basic research and clinical application.

Physicians as well as scientists receive the opportunity of continuous insight into the translational cancer research and multicenter clinical oncology straight from the beginning of their professional career.

Within DKTK young talents in the School of Oncology can take part in an intensive education and training program. Physicians and scientists learn to link scientific and clinical tasks through close collaboration and extensive exchange. At the same time they can transfer research results quickly into the clinic. The program of the School of Oncology tied closely to the training offers at the local Graduate Schools of the partner sites. Additionally to these offers, PhD students, physicians in training and young scientists have the opportunity to participate in various course options, the DKTK “Summer School”, lecture series and exchange programs which all focus on translational oncology.

  • Combine expert training in the medical disciplines involved in oncology with strong opportunities for translational cancer research to educate clinician-scientists;
  • Combine research positions for basic scientists with education in medical needs of translational research in oncology;
  • Facilitate and improve multidisciplinary, cross-over scientific and clinical interactions between laboratory-based scientists and clinician scientists.

The DKTK School of Oncology offers activities covering all relevant aspects of translational cancer research and career development. The curricula of the partner site programs are complemented by:
