Prof. Martin Schuler joins the board of the Oncology in Internal Medicine Working Group (AIO) within the German Cancer Society

In November, Prof. Martin Schuler, Director of Internal Medicine (tumor research) and spokesman for the Essen/Düsseldorf partner location of the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK), was voted onto the board of the Internal Medicine Working Group (AIO) within the German Cancer Society.

The AIO was established in 1976 and now has around 1300 ordinary, extraordinary and supporting members, who work voluntarily in more than 20 working groups. The AIO’s main tasks are in the areas of clinical and translational research and quality improvement, especially in the field of medicinal cancer treatment. 

Other board members are Prof. Ralf Hofheinz and Prof. Michael Thomas. Prof. Helmut Oettle was confirmed in his post as Vice-Chairman. 

The Chairman is Prof. Volker Heinemann. Elections for the post of AIO chairman took place at the start of the year.
