Research data is the key to progress in health research. It enables more accurate diagnoses, personalized therapies and better care.

The eight German Centers for Health Research (DZG), among them the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK), have published a joint white paper: "Gesundheitsforschungsdaten: gemeinsam erschließen, effizienter forschen".

In it, the DZG, together with the Network of University Medicine (NUM), set themselves the goal of actively shaping the national data space as important changes are taking place: The German Health Data Utilization Act (GNDG) and the European Health Data Space (EHDS) facilitate access to these data. Secure, easy access to high-quality data is especially important for AI analytics.

The DZG white paper defines the requirements for a national data space and the establishment of a research data infrastructure in Germany: easy access to data, standardization and linking of study and routine data as well as a clear legal and technical framework.

Existing platforms and infrastructures of the DZG and the NUM show the potential for synergies: they are to be expanded and linked even better.
