Awarding of the 4th Wilko Weichert Grant

The DKTK partner site Munich announces an annual call for the Wilko Weichert Grant to support an interdisciplinary project that fosters early-career researchers and involves collaboration between LMU University Hospital Munich and TUM University Hospital Rechts der Isar or their universities. In the 2026 review process, Dr. Sebastin Müller (Postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Molecular Oncology and Functional Genomics at TUM University Hospital Rechts der Isar) impressed the reviewers with his project on decoding metastatic organotropism and adverse clinical outcome in PDAC through multimodal profiling. As the recipient of the 4th Wilko Weichert Grant, he will receive EUR 30,000 to support his research in 2027.

The award ceremony took place at the CCC Munich Retreat on September 30, 2026. With lectures on translational research and precision oncology, the event once again highlighted the close collaboration between CCC, BZKF, and DKTK at the Munich site. Prof. Michael von Bergwelt (DKTK Munich Spokesperson) presented not only the certificate for the Wilko Weichert grant but also a mug of FC St. Pauli, the favorite football club of Prof. Wilko Weichert.

The grant is awarded in memory of Prof. Wilko Weichert, DKTK Spokesperson at partner site Munich and Director of the Institute of General Pathology and Pathological Anatomy at TUM until 2023.
