The Clinical Communication Platform

Connecting patients with research

The Clinical Communication Platform (CCP) has been established as the central hub of the DKTK to connect patients with research.

The collection of clinical data and biomaterials and all measures to facilitate clinical trials including administrative, technical, ethical, regulatory, legal, and political issues are bundled within this structure. The CCP has one long-term goal: Provide a bridge across disciplines and institutions, and thus to facilitate the collaboration in translational clinical cancer research. To do this, the CCP started to establish long-term, systematic, smart and flexible solutions regarding the documentation of clinical data, the storage and handling of biomaterial and the exchange of information between DKTK partner sites.

The CCP structure

The Head of CCP is Hubert Serve who integrates a CCP Steering Board with members of all participating sites. The local CCP structures are based on the local comprehensive cancer centers (CCC) organizations that already existed before the DKTK was founded. The central CCP structure consists of a CCP Coordination Office in Frankfurt directed by Nicola Gökbuget, which also organizes task forces for Clinical Data Management (CCP Docu) and Clinical Trial Organization (CCP Trials), a task force for Biobanking (CCP Bio) directed by Peter Schirmacher, and a team of IT specialists to develop and implement information technology solutions directed by Frank Ückert (CCP IT).
